A Harare magistrate on Friday rejected an application for the release of six opposition activists and a journalist being held on charges of committing violence against the state.
Lawyers for the six Movement for Democratic Change activists argued that they gave statements to police under duress after their abduction.
Correspondent Thomas Chiripasi of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri that Magistrate Olivia Mariga said the abduction issue would be dealt with in their trial and remanded the seven in custody to Jan.23.
