Super-substitute striker David Shoko of Zimbabwe's Dynamos Football Club is a national hero after scoring a last-minute goal in the team’s Confederation of African Football Champions League mini-stage match against Egypt’s Zamalek.
The goal secured Dynamos a place in the tournament semi-final.
Dynamos is now set to play Group B winner Coton Sport of Cameroon in the semifinals next month, while Al-Ahly of Egypt will face Nigerian club Enyimba.
Dynamos are second in their Group though Al-Ahly has a nine-point lead.
Following the upset Sunday before a home crowd at Rufaro Stadium, Harare, Shoko told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the victory was sweet as some fans in the stands had given up hope.
