The Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, an umbrella for nongovernmental organizations, is mobilizing members of the country's so-called diaspora, especially those who have emigrated to neighboring countries, to come home in March to vote.
The group said such returning Zimbabweans could relieve the country from its desperate plight by making their voices heard through the ballot box.
Crisis Coalition Coordinator Jacob Mafume told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that his group will ask member nations of the Southern African Development Community to community to loosen border controls because many of the Zimbabweans in nearby countries lack proper documentation for travel.
