Though it represented Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup earlier this year, Premier Soccer League member Mwana Africa now faces relegation to Division One with only two games remaining for it to redeem itself before the season ends.
Mwana Africa Manager Kuda Sharara told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that although the odds against his team seem very long at this point in the season, it could still stage an upset to remain in the league.
That could be a challenge. Mwana Africa this weekend plays Dynamos, which has already locked up this year’s PSL championship with an unbeatable 58 points. Mwana Africa is currently dead last among the 16 teams with 31 league table points.
Mathematically, however, any team from the fifth position down could still end up being relegated, and Mwana Africa could save itself if it can collect four more points.
