Boost To Zimbabwe Cricket As October Tour By Sri Lanka Scheduled

Zimbabwe's long-struggling cricket team received a boost Tuesday as Sri Lanka said it would send a side to play in several four-day matches in October.

The announcement relieved a stream of negative developments in recent months as countries such as Australia have canceled tours over political or human rights issues or out of concern for the safety of players given deteriorating local conditions.

Cricket commentator Hartwell Tshuma told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the visit will help Zimbabwe prepare for the return to international test status which it hopes to make by the end of this year.
