Zimbabwe University Students to Boycott Classes Over Tuition Increase


The Zimbabwe National Students Union said students at institutions of higher learning across the country would soon start boycotting classes to protest higher tuition fees and the difficult economic environment that they are facing.The student group said sporadic demonstrations will also be staged at various institutions.

ZINASU said its national executive has endorsed the action aimed at forcing Harare to reverse the increase in fees to $10 million (US$28) a semester from $60,000.

ZINASU Executive Member Clever Bere told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the panel has started mobilizing students.
