Harare's Rufaro Stadium, home ground for the Dynamos Football Club, has closed its gates for eight weeks so artificial turf can be laid, threatening to throw the schedules and attendance figures of local Premier Soccer League teams into disarray.
The National Sports Stadium is also closed for renovations other capital sports venues like Gwanzura Stadium do not have a comparable seating capacity.
The project is funded by the International Federation Of Association Football, or FIFA.
Dynamos Soccer Supporters Association Chairman Philemon Bonde tells reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the club may be obliged to raise gate fees to Z$100,000 (US$0.65) from Z$50,000 (US$0.35) to make up the difference in revenues while restricting attendance of Harare matches.
