Zimbabwean swimming star Kirsty Coventry concluded a brilliant All-Africa Games performance late Wednesday by clinching a seventh gold medal.
Coventry, who also claimed a silver medal in the breast stroke, left Algiers after the last event for the United States where she attends university.
Zimbabwean athletes in Algiers said Coventry's performance inspired them.
Zimbabwe Swimming team manager Philipa Ferris told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that she was amazed at the outcome and hoped more Zimbabweans would take up competitive swimming as a result of Coventry’s effort.
