Zimbabwean Football Clubs Meet To Examine Survival Strategies

Struggling to meet soaring operating costs, football clubs in Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League will meet in the Midlands town of Kwekwe on Saturday to try to draw up a blueprint for their collective survival, league sources said.

The financial burden falling on football clubs includes tax payments to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority plus levies to city councils and the National Sports Commission.

Monomotapa Football Club Secretary David Makombe told sports reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the meeting is customarily held each year at the halfway point in the season, but will focus this year on threats to the clubs' financial viability.
