Zimbabwean Soccer Teams Hold Their Own In Pan-African Matches

Zimbabwe's Mwana Africa Football Club has kept alive its hopes of reaching the finals in the Confederation of African Football's CAF Confederation Cup with its 2-0 defeat on the weekend of Angola’s Interclube at Harare's Rufaro Stadium. Mwana Africa travels to Angola in two weeks for the decisive second leg of the matchup.

Meanwhile, Highlanders Football Club held Egyptian favorite Al Ahly to a 0-0 draw in an Africa Champions League match at Bulawayo’s Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday. Commentators say Highlanders now faces a tough match in Cairo in two weeks.

Elsewhere, soccer supporters were mourning the loss of the life president of the Zimbabwe Soccer Supporters Association, Coleman Majaya, who succumbed to a kidney ailment at the Avenues Clinic in Harare on Monday.
