Zimbabwe Footballers Mull Postponement of Charity Shield Second Leg

Complications have developed in the second leg of the Nestle Charity Shield football tournament scheduled to be played by Premier League champions Highlanders and Mwana Africa on Sunday at Barbourfields stadium in Bulawayo.

Five Highlanders players have been called up to bolster the Under-23 Young Warriors squad against Mozambique in an All-Africa Games qualifier in Harare on Saturday.

Therefore Highlanders is asking PSL officials to postpone the Charity Shield game.

Meanwhile, Mwana Africa Coach Willard Mashinkila Khumalo said his team has not been formally told of a postponement and will travel to Bulawayo as planned.

Reporter Marvellous Mhlanga Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe asked Highlanders Administrator Emmet Ndlovu for details on the conflict.
