Zimbabwe's AIDS Orphans Beneficiaries Of US$250 Million In Pledges

International donors have come up with $US70 million to help Zimbabwe's 2 million AIDS orphans, the United Nations Children's Fund announced Thursday.

The funding is the first tranche of an expected total of $US250 million that will flow to Zimbabwe over five years to purchase food, care and education for orphans.

UNICEF spokesman James Elder in Zimbabwe gave reporter Ndimyake Mwakalyelye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe more details on how the package came together and how it will be applied to mitigate the plight of those AIDS has left parentless.
