Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League Sets March Start For Season

Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League will launch its 2007 season in March despite the lobbying by league officials in favor of a February start that would allow league teams facing international competitions to hone a sharper fighting edge.

The decision emerged at a special general meeting of the PSL's 16 member clubs over the weekend in Kwekwe. League officials also announced that a prize sponsor has been lined up for the new season, but did not disclose the name.

Some club officials who attended were unhappy because the league did not reimburse travel expenses as was the case in previous years.

Reporter Marvellous Mhlanga Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe turned to sports commentator Michael Kariati for more on the league's business.
