Zimbabwe Cricket Rejects Reports Corporate Sponsors Signing Off

A Zimbabwe Cricket financial manager said Thursday that the organization has lined up enough funding from sponsors for the next season despite the team's relative inexperience, dismissing reports a major corporate backer had pulled out.

General Manager For Commercial Affairs Andrew Muzamindo told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that his organisation is pleased that its corporate backers have maintained their level of support.

Recent sports press reports said some important sponsors were withdrawing from the relationship following the exodus of experienced players from the sport early this year including the resignation of the first black captain, Tatenda Taibu.

Taibu left after failing to resolve an impasse with Zimbabwe Cricket management. He vowed not to return until there was a clean sweep of the administration.
