Days after placing business executives under arrest for violating price controls, the Zimbabwean government has agreed to not to resort to such tactics pending a more definitive resolution of such pricing disputes, especially with the bakery sector.
Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries President Callisto Jokonya said charges against managers had been dropped and that a compromise on prices in the current hyperinflationary environment would be worked out some time this week.
Jokonya gave reporter Patience Rusere of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe details of the deal hammered out by business leaders with the Ministry of Industry, the Attorney General's Office and police.
