A spokesman for the faction of Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change led by Arthur Mutambara has accused rival faction members of attacking a group of party officials. Spokesman Gabriel Chaibva of the Mutambara MDC faction said loyalists of the faction led by Morgan Tsvangirai attacked Harare North Member of Parliament Trudy Stevenson, who sustained head injuries and a broken wrist.
Correspondent Thomas Chiripasi reported from Harare on the incident.
Attacked with Stevenson was Harare provincial organizing secretary Linos Mushonga of the Mutambara faction, a former city councilor. He told Ndimyake Msakalyele of VOA’s Studio 7 for Zimbabwe he is personally acquainted with the assailants.
