A second delegation from the South African Council of Churches arrived in Zimbabwe on Monday to confer with counterparts among Zimbabwe’s clerics about relief for the thousands left homeless and destitute by the government’s two month blitz against business and residential structures not licensed by local authorities.
Senior SACC officials met Friday with President Thabo Mbeki. Council Deputy Secretary General Eddie Makue tells reporter Patience Rusere of VOA’s Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that group briefed him on the findings of a July 10-12 mission to Zimbabwe, presented resolutions, and reached certain understandings with the president.
