The Movement for Democratic Change led by Morgan Tsvangirai says Zimbabwe needs a stimulus package to boost the country’s faltering economy saddled with a massive domestic and external debt.

President Robert Mugabe, Mozambican president Filipe Nyusi and First Lady Grace Mugabe, who are accompanied by several state officials, are visiting pavilions at the Harare Agricultural Show amid reports of widespread starvation in some rural areas due to poor harvests this year. Mrs. Mugabe says most farms occupied by local people are currently lying idle.

Fresh job cuts continue in Zimbabwe though President Robert Mugabe on Tuesday this week signed into law the Labour Amendment Bill, which compels companies to compensate workers being sent home due to operational difficulties stemming from the current harsh economic situation in the country.

And vendors protest in Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo, after being raided by local authority police and the Zimbabwe Republic Police for engaging in illegal operations.
