Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors are expected to kick off team Zimbabwe’s campaign at the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday against European champions Germany at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo.

Zimbabwe Football Association spokesperson, Xolisani Gwesela, said the Mighty Warriors team's manager has informed his association that the team is ready although it comes into the match as an underdog.

Gwesela urged all soccer fans to watch the team's performance via different forms of media.

"All Zimbabweans should switch on their televisions, use Facebook, Twitter, and other forms of media to support Team Zimbabwe in whatever form they can so that they feel our love all the way in Brazil. Although they may be viewed as underdogs they have a chance to perform well in their first match," said Gwesela.

Voice Of America’s sports reporter, Alvaro Andrade who is in Brazil says the mood is very festive and he will be updating us periodically on how team Zimbabwean will perform at the olympics.
