Airline Mixup Leaves Zimbabwean Mountain Bikers Flat In Namibia

Three of eight Zimbabwean cyclists set to compete in a mountain biking championship in Namibia on Saturday faced disaster as their wheels went missing in transit.

Though they hoped the bikes might show up in time for the race, the riders expressed frustration that they could not practice on a test course before the one-day race. The winning team in the competition will qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Rider Margie Gibson, one of those whose cycle went missing en route, told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that she doesn't think her performance will suffer.
