Tropical Cyclone Idai has devastated some Zimbabwe's Manicaland region, leaving more than 100 people dead and hundreds injured and missing. Many roads, bridges, schools, houses, clinics and other building were damaged. The Zimbabwean national army is now helping some of the affected people. (AP)
Zimbabwe's Emmerson Mnangagwa was on Sunday sworn-in as the country's president almost two days after the Constitutional Court ruled that he was the winner of the July 30 presidential election. The Movement for Democratic Change led by Nelson Chamisa strongly rejected his election.
British Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle married today at St. George's Chapel in in Windsor Castle in Windsor, near London. The couple, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, shared their vows before live guests in the chapel, and well as thousands around the world via TV.
New Zealand, Australia, and surrounding Pacific Islands were among the first places to ring in 2018 with fireworks displays, parties, and other festivities. Nearly 1.5 million people gathered to watch a rainbow fireworks display above Sydney's iconic Harbour Bridge and opera house.
