The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) on Tuesday launched public dialogue meetings in Chitungwiza focusing on the protection and promotion of human rights in Zimbabwe, where it is working in conjunction with the Chitungwiza Residents' Trust.

The same program was also launched in Bulawayo.

ZLHR spokesman Kumbirai Mafunda told VOA Studio 7 the organisation also used this opportunity to distribute simplified constitution fact sheets in three languages English, Shona and Ndebele.

These community forums are focusing on the rights to water, food, education, shelter and citizenship, the right to freedom of association and the right to freedom of expression and the media.

Mafunda said they seek to increase awareness on key rights provided for in the constitution and enhance the capacity of human rights defenders to incorporate principles of human rights and the rule of law in their advocacy work.
