Some community care workers in Masvingo on Friday partnered with members of a Child Protection Committee and hosted a Christmas party for underprivileged children.

Committee chairperson Ropafadzo Tabe, who is also a teacher at Saint Francis Aphiri Primary School, told Studio 7 that they sourced donations from well-wishers for taking care of some underprivileged people this festive season.

Tabe said they saw it fit to spend the day with these children and some underprivileged adults in an effort to lift their spirits.

She said they had a target to raise $800 but because of the economic hardships currently gripping the country they only managed to raise $300.

About 150 people, 95 of them children, attended the function.

“We hope that the government need to do a bit more to assist these disadvantaged children,” said Tabe.
