A United States-based organization, Friends of Baptists in Zimbabwe, has donated computers to Baptist schools in the southern African nation.

According to Pastor Isaac Mwase, who is the founding president of the organization composed mainly of former students of Baptist schools in Zimbabwe, their aim is to support Baptist denominations and disadvantaged students in the country.

A consignment of over 200 computers is already in Beira, Mozambique, destined for Baptist institutions in Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland West and Midlands provinces.

Mwase told Studio 7 they held a successful fundraising banquet last Saturday in Dallas, Texas, as part of their goal to assist the underprivileged back home.

β€œIt was a $25 per plate fundraising banquet and there were a lot of our friends who were not able to come, and a lot of people are donating on line,” said Pastor Mwase.

He added that Sanyati Baptist High in Kadoma, Gand N. School in Midlands, Getnel Secondary School (Masvingo) and St. Joseph Secondary School, Chitswa High and Chiundu Secondary schools are some of the intended beneficiaries.

The computers were sourced by Zeddy Chirombe, who is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Friends of Baptists in Zimbabwe is currently headed by Dr. Solomon Masenda.
