The paralyzing strike by doctors entered its third week Monday with no sign that the industrial action will end soon.
The junior doctors who were joined last week by some senior level doctors, met Monday with government representatives but nothing positive came out of the meeting.
The government requested more time to look into the doctors’ grievances of low pay and poor working conditions.
Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association president Dr. Fortune Nyamande told VOA Studio 7 that it seems the government is not yet ready to commit itself on paper to the doctors' demands.
Health ministry permanent secretary is expected to meet with his finance ministry counterpart to discuss the doctors’ grievances.
About 400 doctors are reportedly on strike.
Dr. Nyamande said, “People are going to the district hospitals to access treatment since they cannot receive any treatment at the tertiary hospitals."
