An international organization has partnered with nine African women artists including zimbabwe’s Selmor Mtukudzi to raise awareness of the high rate of poverty among women.
One is a campaign and advocacy organisation of more than 6 million people, fighting to end extreme poverty and preventable diseases.
The organisation and the artists launched a song dedicated to end poverty among women last night at Zimbabwe’s Book Café.
Mtukudzi told VOA Studio 7 music is being used to promote the empowerment of women.
Meanwhile, One’s Africa executive director Dr. Sipho Moyo said the launch in Harare is part of a campaign that will be held throughout Africa targeted at influencing leaders to refocus their international development agenda and empower women to help eradicate poverty.
The One’s campaign slogan is running under the slogan: “Poverty is Sexist”.
