Sacked former Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, says it is not surprising that he was pushed out of government as the plot to oust him was hatched last year ahead of the Zanu PF congress.

Bhasikiti told VOA Studio 7’s Blessing Zulu in an exclusive interview that he knew that the current resident minister, Shuvai Mahofa, allegedly linked to the party’s faction led by newly appointed Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, did not want him to occupy the coveted post.

Mahofa, who is said to have played a prominent role in ousting Vice President Joice Mujuru and her group, was sworn in at the Zimbabwe State House on Thursday by President Robert Mugabe.

President Mugabe has since last year been sacking cabinet ministers and others perceived to be allies of Mrs. Mujuru, whom he said was planning to assassinate him and take over the reins of power.

Seventeen have so far been sacked with Bhasikiti being the latest victim.

Kudakwashe Bhasikiti allegedly chopped down some of his citrus trees after he was sacked by President Robert Mugabe.

Media reports say Bhasikiti is so bitter at his sacking that he has destroyed his Moria Farm along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road, due to his fall-out with President Mugabe and Zanu PF.

The reports said Bhasikiti has been cutting down his citrus plantation as he prepares to leave the country.

But Bhasikiti said those reporting like that are ignorant of how things work in citrus farming.
