WASHINGTON DC —
The editor of a little known newspaper called News Leader, Itai Dzamara, on Tuesday led a sit in at the Harare Africa Unity Square that was poorly attended.
The protest follows a petition delivered to the President’s Office last week calling for President Robert Mugabe to step down.
A copy of the petition delivered to Mr. Mugabe encourages the president, who was elected last year to step down immediately and pave way for a process of engagement involving all national stakeholders, towards the establishment of a new administration that takes over to manage the country and prepare for fresh elections.
Dzamara told VOA Studio 7 that the sit in will continue until Mr. Mugabe addresses them.
