Zimbabwe lost to the West Indies by 73 runs in their 2015 World Cup Cricket match played in Canberra, Australia, on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe fell to the West Indies despite putting up a spirited performance that was witnessed by Zimbabweans in the diaspora who turned up to watch their home team.

West Indies's Chris Gayle broke World Cup records when he finished on 215 runs from 147 balls having hit 10 fours and and 16 sixes, much to the disappointment of Zimbabwean fans who were hoping for a different outcome in this match.

Cricket sports commentator Dean Du Plesis says despite the Zimbabwean Cricket team's spirited performance in Canberra they need to improve their bowling if they expect to perform well in their remaining matches.

Meanwhile, some Zimbabweans living in Australia say although they were disappointed at the country’s loss they will continue to attend future matches.

Zimbabwean cricket fan Chilles Majabvi, who was at Tuesday's match, says his team's weakness was in their bowling and he hopes this will improve in the next matches.

"We will continue to follow the team within Australia as long as it's playing here and we have the time and opportunity," said Majabvi.
