The Zimbabwe Christian Alliance says it is concerned that no meaningful change has occurred to change the country’s socio-economic conditions 22 months after the country’s national elections.

The Christian group said in a statement that all political parties and other stakeholders should come together to work on how the country can boost investment, create jobs and improve the ordinary’s person access to health and social services.

The alliance said Zimbabwe is facing a national leadership crisis as a result of greed and selfishness, among other issues.

“There is no doubt that so many mistakes have been in our country, by those in power and by many thousands who were once part and parcel of the system and were for many years clear beneficiaries, but have not fallen on hard times,” said the statement.

Speaking to VOA Reverend Ray Motsi, chairman of the Zimbabwe Christian Alliance, said political events in the country this week speak to the ills Zimbabwe is currently facing.

Motsi, speaking on the disappearance of pro-democracy Itai Dzamara, said those were issues in Zimbabwe that the alliance is most concerned about.

“What is going on is we seem to be retrospecting and regressing in terms of our actions because the new constitution in place, it is supposed to have Bill of Rights, it is supposed to protect people,” said Motsi.

Motsi said their hope is that the government begins to properly and adequately implement changes, “realizing they are not the only Zimbabwean’s, they are not the only one who have a solution of where Zimbabwe ought to go.”
