So it is heartbreak for ZPC Kariba as they surrendered the league title on the last day of play.
ZPC Kariba stuttered where it mattered most as they lost out the 2014 Zimbabwe soccer league championship on the day which looked like theirs for celebration.
The modest Kariba-based side was on the verge of making history until a 3-2 defeat by Caps United, coupled by a 2-0 win for Dynamos over How Mine saw the defending champions edge out ZPC Kariba by a point on the last day of play.
Dynamos finished on 57 points after 30 games and ZPC Kariba remained on 56 points to give Dynamos their fourth consecutive league title and the helicopter with the trophy landed at the National Sports Stadium instead of Gwanzura Stadium where ZPC Kariba were playing.
Coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who handed Dynamos their fourth straight league title, was over the moon but hinted that he was leaving the popular Harare club.
Striker Simba Sithole, who once played in South Africa for the super-rich Mamelodi Sundowns, says the players are happy with the title adding that their target is now the CAF Champions League.
For winning the league championship, Dynamos will receive $100 000 for their effort.
Two of their players Steven Alimenda and Themba Ndlovu have also been named among the 11 finalists for the Castle Soccer Star of the Year Award.
While Dynamos are celebrating their victory, the same cannot be said of Black Rhinos and Shabanie Mine who have been relegated to Division One football.
Shabanie Mine’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Triangle saw them finish fourth from the bottom and join Black Rhinos who have also been relegated despite their 2-1 win over Bantu Rovers.
So, the teams which have been relegated are Bantu Rovers, Black Rhinos, Chiredzi, and Shabanie Mine.
