The so-called Gender Challenge Initiative is supported by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief and the Center for Disease Control, also an American agency.
Officiating at the launch Thursday, Deputy Minister of Women's Affairs Jessie Majome said the program will operate under the Community Working Group on Health in collaboration with a coalition of local non-profit organizations.

The Community Group on Health is a network of civic and community-based groups that aim to enhance community participation in health issues. The group was formed in 1998.
Majome told VOA reporter, Marvellous Mhlanga Nyahuye the program will help provide reliable data on gender and health issues.
"Through this new initiative we will be able to have data collated by the organizations in the initiative to help us implement health and gender policy issues," said Majome.
