WASHINGTON DC
— The three parties in the unity government say they are looking forward to a year free of political violence.
The parties are calling on their followers to shun violence and live harmoniously, despite their political differences.
The 2008 vote was marred by skirmishes that left more than 200 people dead. A constitutional referendum and general elections are expected in 2013.
Zanu PF parliamentary whip Joram Gumbo says the violence that Zimbabwe witnessed in 2008 should be a thing of the past.

Speaking for the MDC’s Tsvangirai formation, Douglas Mwonzora also expressed hopes for a year free of political violence, saying his party’s priority in 2013 is to unseat Zanu-PF, provided the election is free and fair.
