Critics Say First Lady Grace Mugabe Too Divisive, Needs to Stop Attacking Mujuru

Some political commentators have described as reckless and divisive remarks by First Lady Grace Mugabe that no-one can stop her in the ruling party, currently riddled with factionalism.

Mrs. Mugabe made the remarks on Thursday at Morumbedzi Growth Point, Mashonaland West province, where she also boasted of having played a key role in the expulsion of former Vice President Joice Mujuru, who was accused by the party of attempting to topple President Robert Mugabe before the 2014 Zanu PF elective congress.

Political commentator George Mkwananzi told Studio 7 such remarks are a dent on the first lady, who is supposed to be a pillar of life in Zimbabwe.

The first lady went on a nationwide tour before the Zanu PF congress and claimed in her speeches that Mrs. Mujuru had teamed up with several senior party officials to remove her husband from power.

She further claimed that Mrs. Mujuru was corrupt though she did not give details. The former vice president was subsequently fired from the party and government together with then party stalwarts - Zanu PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo, administration secretary Didymus Mutasa, war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda, and several others.

They have all dismissed allegations levelled against them as baseless.
