The leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Morgan Tsvangirai says President Robert Mugabe must just step down as the battle to succeed him is now a detriment to national development.

The battle to succed Mr. Mugabe is even shadowing Tsvangirai’s led MDC-T’s congress which starts Friday.

Factional fights in Zanu-PF have intensified after the entry into politics of President Mugabe’s wife, Grace Mugabe.

Mrs. Mugabe has been on the campaign trail attacking Vice President Joice Mujuru pressing her to step down for allegedly plotting to oust President Mugabe.

Zanu-PF spokesman Rugare Gumbo says Women’s League boss, Oppah Mushinguri, will table a report on the first lady’s tour in the Politiburo on Thursday.

Tsvangirai said it is not helpful to blame the opposition for failing to take advantage of the Zanu-PF crisis.
