HARARE
— The High Court on Monday dismissed an application by ex-communicated Bishop Nolbert Kunonga to reverse his eviction from Anglican Church properties.
In his ruling, judge president George Chiweshe said the Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA), led by Bishop Chad Gandiya, should not be stopped from occupying church-owned properties.
Kunonga had approached the court seeking to stop the eviction of his group from the Anglican Cathedral and other properties countrywide.
Chiweshe ruled that Kunonga had no right to be heard in the first place, saying it was irregular for him to approach the High Court after the Supreme Court had already ruled on the same matter.
The judge said he would not entertain Kunonga’s request and ordered him to pay the costs of the suit.
Kunonga and his lawyer, Jonathan Samukange, could not be reached by VOA for comment.

Following his eviction from the Anglican Cathedral two weeks ago, the defrocked bishop allegedly hired bouncers who assaulted guards deployed at the cathedral by the office of the deputy sheriff. Six of those bouncers have been arrested.
The Zanu PF aligned Kunonga accuses the CPCA of promoting homosexuality, an allegation that the church says is unfounded.
Following his excommunication 5 years ago, Kunonga formed his own church, which he called the Church of the Province of Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gandiya said his church is still compiling an inventory of all church assets to see if anything is missing that the excommunicated bishop or his followers might have seized.
