Former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation disc jockey, Chaka Ngwenya, says he is fascinated by the way some Americans think about Africa as they believe that the continent is a big jungle.

Ngwenya, who is now a minister of religion leading one of the biggest Salvation Army churches in New York City, told VOA Studio 7 they think that there is no civilization in Zimbabwe and other African nations.

“When I met some people they asked me how come I could speak English. They said it has an accent but it was good,” he said.

Ngwenya has been living in the United States for more than 15 years.

He now has a 15 year-old daughter who grew up in the U.S. He says every time he takes his daughter to Zimbabwe she is fascinated by seeing for the first time livestock and other things she only sees on television.

Ngwenya thanks God for everything that has happened in his life.
