Chicken Inn Football Clubs chairman, Lifa Ncube, says preparations for the CAF African Champions League are in top gear.

Ncube told VOA Studio 7 the his club has featured in warm up games against Zanaco FC of Zambia and Tanzanian champions, Azam FC.

Chicken Inn are set to clash with Zesco United FC of Zambia on Wednesday before taking on Mamelodi Sundowns FC of South Africa in their first CAF Champions League match February 13 at home.

He said they hope to beat the South African outfit as the club has a strong squad that now includes veteran former Highlanders striker, Obadiah Tarumbwa.

“We hope to win. Sundowns will be fielding 11 players and we will be fielding the same number of players … Therefore we hope to beat them,” said.

Ncube further said they are also financially sound to participate in the lucrative African Champions League.

“We have managed to secure enough funding for the African journey, depending on what stage we reach but I can confirm that we will be able to play until the final.”

He noted to boost the morale of the players, Chicken Inn is thinking of introducing some incentives.

“We will sit down with the players and workout an incentive package for them for each stage that they reach.”

Most Zimbabweans clubs, except Dynamos Football Club, have failed to reach the lucrative quarter finals of the tournament.
