Deliberations at the African Union (AU) Summit continued Saturday with continental leaders tackling many issues such as Ebola, poverty, the militant group, Boko Haram, and others.
The AU last evening adopted its development blueprint - Agenda 2063. It focuses mainly on harnessing local resources for achieving meaningful economic growth on the continent.
What is also still in the minds of some delegates like independent journalist Peter Fabricius is the elevation of President Robert Mugabe to the chairmanship of the African Union.
Addressing the AU Summit, United Nations Secretary general Ban-Ki Moon, said leaders should always respect the will of the people.
Hundreds of African women are in Addis Ababa attending side events as the African Union has this year dedicated 2015 the year of women empowerment.
Gender activist Sally Dura told VOA Studio 7’s Sandra Nyaira that African leaders must walk the talk.
She hopes Zimbabwe will promote gender equity.
