Zimbabwe Welcomes 2010 World Cup Trophy

Zimbabwe was in the spotlight in international football Thursday following the arrival of the 2010 World Cup trophy in Harare for a parade on Friday at the International Conference Center as part of a world tour in the run-up to the world soccer showcase in neighboring South Africa.

Only President Robert Mugabe will be allowed to touch the coveted trophy under FIFA regulations, sources say.

Tourism and Hospitality Minister Walter Mzembi told reporter, Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that Harare will use the cup display to market Zimbabwe as a jump-off point for World Cup participants.
