Fans Rally Behind Warriors in CHAN Match Against Zambia

Warriors fans are urging coach Ian Gorowa to strengthen his striking force ahead of the first leg of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) match Sunday between Zimbabwe and Zambia at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Fabian Mahembe says Gorowa is doing a brilliant job with the team but adds that he should concentrate on attacking Chipolopolo to ensure the team bags goals early and travels to Zambia for the return match with a comfortable lead.

The Warriors, however, go into this match with some injuries. Hwange defender Eric Chipeta, midfielder Devon Chafa, skipper Masimba Mambare and Tendai Ndoro are sitting out some of their training sessions this week. It is unclear if they will be cleared in time for the match.

CHAN is a championship played by locally-based players. Mahembe is confident the Warriors will beat Chipolopolo as most of the players in the team are doing well for their teams in the local league.

"Gorowa needs to make sure that our strike force is on point so that we score goals early and have a comfortable lead before our away match in Zambia," added Mahembe.

The Warriors drew 1-1 at home against Mauritius at Rufaro Stadium Sunday but progressed to the last qualifying round of the tournament courtesy of a 4-1 aggregate win.
