Zimbabwe Warriors Eliminated From East-Central Africa Soccer Tournament

The Zimbabwe Warriors national soccer team put on a lackluster performance according to observers and were defeated 4-0 by Rwanda in the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations Senior Challenge Cup

Zimbabwe's Warriors national soccer team was eliminated Tuesday from the Senior Challenge Cup of the Council of East and and Central African Football Associations after losing 4-1 to Rwanda in quarter-finals in Nairobi.

Rwanda's Wasps play Tanzania's Taifa Stars in a semi-final match Thursday.

Sports commentator Michael Kariati told VOA Studio 7 reportern Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that the Warriors disappointed fans who were hoping for a repeat of the team’s outstanding performance last month in the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations Senior Challenge Cup in Harare.

Zimbabwe won that COSAFA title by defeating Zambia's Chipolopolo.
