Zimbabwe National Soccer Team Advances in East-Central Africa Tournament

The Zimbabwe Warriors were set to face Rwanda in the quarter-final of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations Senoir Challenge Cup currently under way in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Zimbabwe Warriors national soccer team was set to face Rwanda in the of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations Senior Challenge Cup in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday looking for a semi-finals slot.

The Warriors won the invitation to the CECAFA tournament after clinching the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations Senior Challenge Cup in Harare last month.

Many expect Warriors Coach Norman Mapeza, a former team captain, to take his squad to the finals given its performance in the COSAFA event - though the team in Nairobi is not the same as that which prevailed in Harare.

Zimbabwe Football Association Competitions Manager Jonathan Musavengana told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that he likes the Warrior's chances in this latest subregional test.
