The Zanu PF leadership and some supporters in Masvingo have warned that they will take stern action against political commissar Francis Nhando of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association, who read a communique at a meeting last week convened by former freedom fighters blaming President Robert Mugabe for the current economic decay in the southern African nation.

Amnesty International says Pastor Evan Mawarire’s life is at risk following protests he organized together with Tajamuka-Sesijikile Campaign that shut down Zimbabwe. Amnesty is urging the Zimbabwean authorities to ensure the safety, personal security and wellbeing of Pastor Mawarire.

Zimbabweans stage a peaceful protest outside the Mbare Magistrates Court to show their solidarity with political activist, Linda Masarira, who was arrested early this month following a nationwide stay away that shutdown Zimbabwe. The stay away was called by Pastor Evan Mawarire of #thisflag and Tajamuka-Sesijikile Campaign that are pressing President Robert Mugabe’s government to address social, economic and political issues affecting the country.

The Zimbabwe Book Fair enters its second day with some participants saying lack of material in local languages is hampering learning processes in schools.
