A young Zimbabwean lady based in Tampa, Florida, in the United States, says February 29th is a special day for her as it is one of those rare occasions when she celebrates her birthday on the actual day she was born.
Tafadzwa Sayi was born in a leap year and 2016 happens to fall within this category and will enable her to savour her birthday but hastens to say trying to make this celebration special can put too much pressure on people born on this day, including herself.
"I am so excited but sometimes I pressure myself to have a great birthday, a perfect birthday since it comes every four years but I urge those who share the same day with me to take it easy and just enjoy the day," said Sayi.
Sayi, who is from Mberengwa district, said she will postpone celebrating her big day on Monday as she will be at work and will have her festivities at the weekend although she is elated that once every four years she gets the pleasure of actually celebrating on the day she was born.
"I am going to celebrate this weekend but am so glad that this year I may get to celebrate my birthday on the actual day I was born because some of my relatives and friends do not honour my birthday and get out of giving me presents when it falls on days that are not in a leap year … This year I get to cash in," said Sayi.
