WASHINGTON DC —
President Robert Mugabe has been the subject of many books and films over the years, as many try to understand the man who has led the country since independence in 1980.
Among them is Simon Bright, who released a documentary in 2011, titled, Robert Mugabe: What Happened?
Bright was born in South Africa, to a white Zimbabwean woman, and says he felt compelled to produce the documentary to potray President Mugabe from the standpoint of those who knew him best, and also understand his motive for undertating the land reform program, and other actions.
Studio 7’s Ndimyake Mwakalyelye caught up with Bright at a screening of his latest documentary, “The King and His People”, which tells the story of Swaziland, from the perspective of civil society and King Mswati III.
Bright, who now lives in Britain, says he’ll remain a Zimbabwean always.
