Fans hope the re-branded Zimbabwe Cricket will recover its glory days when players like Andy Flower, who now coaches the English national team, inspired the national side
Zimbabwe's cricket fans are keenly anticipating the national team's return to test play on Thursday against Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club.
Disarray in the team and the Zimbabwe Cricket administrative body forced the side to withdraw from test play in 2005, opening a long period of rebuilding, in part through the recruitment of former key players and support staff.
Most notable was the appointment of former captain Heath Streak as bowling coach in 2009. Zimbabwe Cricket also set up cricket franchises in all provinces to promote and decentralise the domestic league in anticipation of its return to test play.

Cricket commentator Dean du Plessis told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that Zimbabwe has a chance at upsetting Bangladesh, which is at the bottom of international rankings, as Zimbabwe is eager to make a mark in test play.
