Show organizers say the quality of exhibits was good though there was not pedigree section.

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair ends Saturday in Bulawayo with indications that the annual event’s Bulawayo Agricultural Show Society was a big success.

Administrator and spokesperson, Natalie Adlam, says the event attracted participants from various sectors of the economy.

“We are happy about this year’s event. We had a yarding of 77 slaughter stock for the beasts and the overall award was won by Lin Stanton from West Nicholson,” said Adlam.

She said the quality of the beef was good although “we did not have pedigree because we had an outbreak of foot and mouth disease two or three weeks before the trade fair.”

Adlam said they also had pig and poultry shows at the ZITF with more entries recorded in the poultry section compared to last year.

“We also got the home industries and produce halls. In the produce section, we had 500 more entries from the districts despite the low rainfall this year. There were entries from far afield as Binga and Filabusi,” she said.

The agricultural show, which has been in existence since 1897, attracts a lot of entries very year.
