A Zimbabwean banker and former deputy president of the African Development Bank, Thomas Sikala, has been eliminated from the presidential race of the AfDB as a women minister from Cape Verde is in a striking distance to land the hot seat.
VOA’s Linord Moudou reports that Sikala lost in the initial stages of the race in Abidjan. The contestants are drawn from Nigeria, Chad, Zimbabwe, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, Mali and Tunisia.
She told VOA Studio 7 the remaining three candidates trying to replace outgoing AfDB president Dr. Donald Kaberuka of Rwanda.
