Zanu PF youths marched in Bulawayo on Thursday in honour of President Robert Mugabe ahead of his birthday celebrations in Matobo district on Saturday.

The youth chanted slogans to show solidarity for Zimbabwe's 93 year-old leader, who has been in power for almost 37 years.

They urged President Mugabe to continue ruling and prepare for the 2018 presidential election in which he will be fielded as the ruling party’s candidate at the age of 94.

Succession battles have ravaged Zanu PF with two factions allegedly led by First Lady Grace Mugabe and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa fighting to be on the driving seat of the ruling party.

Mrs. Mugabe and Mnangagwa have dismissed suggestions that they are linked to factions as wishful thinking.

The president said this week there is nobody in the party at the moment who is capable of succeeding him.
